5 Electrical Problems You Should Always Fix at Your GM Dealer

Not all cars have an electric powertrain, but every single car out there has an electrical system. The battery plays a major role in not only running your car, but running many of its functions such as the power windows, heated seats, and much more. Because so much of your car runs on electricity, electrical problems can happen from time to time. These should always be fixed at your trusted local dealership.

1. A Dead Battery

It’s not uncommon for batteries to malfunction as they get older. One day you might get behind the wheel only to find that the car won’t start anymore. Try to jumpstart your battery, and then when you get it going again, go straight to the dealer.  Replacing the battery is a simple job that won’t take very long.

2. An Alternator Issue

When you’re driving, your alternator charges up your battery. If your alternator can’t charge your battery sufficiently, then your battery can’t do its job. You might have to get towed to the dealership, because if the alternator isn’t charging your battery enough, then the car may not be able to stay on even after you jumpstart it.

3. A Starter Motor Problem

If your battery and alternator are working fine, but your car won’t start, then the starter motor could be causing the problem. Usually, you’ll hear a clicking sound when you try to start the car with a faulty starter motor. Nothing will happen after the clicking noise, as your engine can’t turn over when the starter motor isn’t working as it should.

4. A Fuse Box Problem

Fuses can blow, and sometimes a whole fuse box may be faulty. The fuse box isn’t one of the components of your car that needs to be replaced regularly, but it can still fail. If your fuses start blowing often, the fuses become loose, or if you see water stains on the fuse box, then the fuse box is failing and should be replaced by a technician at your local dealership.

5. A Spark Plug Issue

One or more of your spark plugs may stop working, as these parts wear out over time.
