2. US 23 Country Music Highway Museum

If the springtime has you hankering for some music to your ears, head on down to the US 23 Country Music Highway Museum. This celebration of Kentucky’s finest country music stars, including Loretta Lynn, Chris Stapleton, and Keith Whitley, features informative exhibits of memorabilia. And there’s live bluegrass, gospel, and country music on the porch every Thursday at 7pm with the Front Porch Pickin’ event.
The museum is located on Stave Branch Road in Staffordsville and opens Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

3. Mountain Homeplace Living History Farm

If you really want to get into the spirit of spring, there’s no place that’s popping with life quite like the farm – and at Mountain Homeplace Farm, you’ll have the chance to experience spring as it was in the 1850s. There’s a blacksmith shop, one-room school, Baptist church, and double-pen cabin, and the tours are given in period costumes for extra realism. And the kids will love meeting the residents of the barn, including goats, chickens, alpacas, and a donkey.
Located at 445 Kentucky Route 2275, the farm is open 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and noon to 5pm on Sundays.

4. Jenny Wiley State Resort Park

Named after an early nineteenth-century pioneer with a tragic past, the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park is the perfect place to get closer to nature this springtime. Situated at 75 Theatre Court in Prestonville, this park offers biking, birdwatching, hiking, fishing, and elk-watching among its many attractions.
There are also multiple picnicking sites with seating and grilles, so pack a picnic basket and blanket into the spacious trunk of your Dodge Durango before you head down. With beautiful scenery and fantastic amenities, you can also learn more about the park and its history at the Nature Center, open from Tuesdays to Saturdays 8am to 4pm.
