A Chrysler Engine

Your Chrysler engine, like any other mechanical system, can develop problems as time passes. Valves can wear out, parts can get damaged, and your car will experience engine problems. The good news is that your Chrysler dealer can repair any problem for you. If you’re certain that your engine is having problems, it might be time to book an appointment at Hutch Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. But, if you’re uncertain if there’s any issue, then these are some samples of problems that we can fix.

Worn Battery

The most important function of your battery is to provide the electrical charge to start your engine. The battery sends an electrical charge to the starter solenoid when you push the button or turn the key. The solenoid activates the starter motor and cranks your engine. If your battery starts to malfunction, starting your engine will become difficult and eventually impossible.

A battery contains chemicals, including sulfuric acid. These chemicals react with the copper plates and other internal battery components to store electricity. As time passes, the chemicals will start to break down naturally. This causes the battery to become less efficient at recharging and holding a charge. Our technicians can test your battery and replace it if it’s failing.

Blocked Catalytic Converter

The converter takes the dangerous byproducts from your engine combustion and converts them into harmless chemicals. This process reduces damage to your exhaust system and decreases pollution from exhaust smoke. The converter uses high-pressure and extreme temperatures to convert the dangerous chemicals. A converter can, however, become blocked by some of these byproducts.

Carbon, a byproduct of combustion, can build up in the converter and block the exit to the exhaust pipe. Should this happen, the engine gases forced into the exhaust system will flow back into your engine. This backflow can lead to stalling, damaged spark plugs, and poor fuel efficiency. Our technicians will examine your converter, and we can remove the blockage.

Colored Exhaust Smoke

Black, blue, or thick white smoke from the exhaust are all signs of trouble in your engine. Each of these issues is caused by fluid leaking into the exhaust system. Blue smoke means that engine oil is seeping into the exhaust. This can happen if a crack develops in the head gasket. The head gasket is the most important seal in your engine, as it separates the top and bottom sections of your engine.

White smoke also represents leakage into the exhaust, but in this case, water is the culprit. Engine coolant is water-based and can enter the exhaust system through a damaged head gasket. Finally, black smoke represents either damage to the catalytic converter or a fuel-rich environment in your engine. Our technicians can speedily fix any of these problems.
