Trim Levels
Drivers can choose from the two-door version of the Wrangler or the four-door version. The four-door comes in four trims, the two-door comes in three, and both offer the option between a soft-top, convertible, or hard top. The trims start off with the Sport with 17-inch steel wheels, skid plates, tow hooks, and a full-size spare. This trim also has fog lights, a fold-down windshield, and removable doors. The Sport S comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, heated and powered side mirrors, and automatic headlights. The Sahara is only available in the four-door and has 18-inch alloy wheels, painted body panels, and LED fog lights. The Rubicon is the off-road powerhouse with its special off-road tires, Dana M210 front axle, and electronic front and rear locking differential. It also has a disconnecting roll bar and rock rails.
Engine
The base engine in the 2018 Wrangler is the same 3.6-liter V-6 from previous years that gets 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, but the 2018 model now has another option. Added to the lineup is a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that delivers 270 horsepower. This new engine features a mild hybrid system with some electric power to help increase the fuel efficiency.
Performance
The new turbo engine helps increase the gas mileage in the Wrangler with an EPA estimate of 23 miles per gallon in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Improvements to the suspension give riders a firm but more comfortable ride than before, and the Jeep will feel stable on twisty, winding roads. The 2018 also has a new steering system, a 5-link suspension, and retuned shocks that add to the on-road ride, and of course, the place where the Wrangler really shines is off the road.
Interior
The Wrangler's cabin saw some big changes for 2018. The layout is still simple, but it looks more modern than before with a 7-inch touch screen in the higher trims and the option for leather on the dash and the seats. There is more space for both the front and rear seat passengers and choose the Unlimited for almost 32 cubic feet of cargo space. The rear seats even fold down to open up the cargo area to over 72 cubic feet. All Wrangler models come standard with two USB ports, Bluetooth, and the Uconnect infotainment system. Optional technology depending on the trim includes a Wi-Fi hotspot, an upgraded version of the Uconnect system with a larger touch screen, navigation, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety Features
All the Wrangler models come standard with a rearview camera, and Jeep makes blind-spot monitoring available as an option. You can also add front and rear parking sensors.
